20 lbs @ $7.00/lb = $140.00 (bulk format)
Organic Quinoa Flakes are just quinoa that have been rolled flat, just like rolled oats. It can be used to make hot cereal (oatmeal), but provides more nutritional value and is a source of complete protein.
While Quinoa is technically a seed, it is prepared and used much in the same way as oats, rice and other grains. It's 12-18% protein by weight, and is a complete protein with all essential amino acids needed to be used by the body. It's a great source of dietary fiber, phosphorous, iron and magnesium.
Cooking Quinoa Flakes
Boil 1 cup of water, add ⅓ cup of Quinoa Flakes and let it cook for 90 seconds. Remove the pan off the heat and let it cool - the flakes will absorb the water and thicken.
They can also be microwaved, using ⅓ cup Quinoa Flakes to 1 cup water in a bowl that's double the volume of the water. Microwave on high for 2 - 2.5 minutes.
Another variation is substituting water with almond milk for a minute, adding the flakes and microwaving another 30 seconds. This makes it creamier and adds more nutrients, while remaining relatively low calorie.
W recommend keeping some nuts, spices or dried berries on hand to add variety on a day-to-day basis. Almonds, vanilla, cinnamon, dried raisins, dried cranberries and dried blueberries can all be added for natural flavouring.
